Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@iNeedTestingNow.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

If your main concern is memory, focus, or thinking, cognitive or neuropsychological testing is usually best.
If your main concern is mood, anxiety, or behavior, a psychological evaluation is often more appropriate.

If you’re unsure, we’ll help determine the best fit based on your needs.

Yes. We provide virtual neuropsychological and psychological evaluations for children and adults, allowing you to receive care from the comfort of your home.

Evaluations typically include:

  1. A clinical interview
  2. Standardized testing and questionnaires
  3. A feedback session to review results
  4. A detailed written report

On the day of testing, you will complete a series of structured tasks and questionnaires designed to assess specific areas such as attention, memory, thinking skills, or emotional functioning.

Testing may include:

  • Answering questions (spoken and written)
  • Completing problem-solving or memory tasks
  • Participating in attention-based tasks (such as focusing, responding to prompts, or tracking information over time)
  • Completing computer-based assessments designed to measure skills like attention and memory
  • Filling out standardized questionnaires

All activities are guided in real time and are designed to be straightforward and non-invasive. There are no “pass or fail” results—this process is simply to better understand how you function.

Your evaluation results can be used in several important ways, including:

  • Guiding therapy, medication, and broader medical decision-making.
  • School, college or workplace accommodations
  • Documentation for standardized testing (e.g., SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT)
  • Assisting with academic planning or admissions-related needs

Most clients receive results within 10-14 business days, along with a feedback session to review everything in detail.

If you need results sooner, expedited reports may be available upon request and may be subject to an additional fee.

Yes, we currently accept:

  • Aetna PPO
  • BCBS PPO
  • Cigna PPO
  • Meridian Health Plan Illinois
  • Molina Healthcare Illinois
  • Tricare West
  • United Healthcare
  • United Medicaid

Coverage can vary depending on your specific plan, so we recommend contacting us to verify your benefits before scheduling.

If your plan is out-of-network, you may still be able to use your benefits. We can provide documentation (such as a superbill) for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

To ensure the most accurate test results, on the day of testing, we recommend:

  • Getting a good night’s sleep before your appointment
  • Avoiding caffeine, stimulants, or attention-enhancing substances (including certain medications, if advised) on the day of testing
  • Setting up in a quiet, distraction-free environment

These preparation steps are not necessary for the interview portion.

Yes. Virtual evaluations are reliable and widely used when conducted under the right conditions. We use standardized procedures and validated tools to ensure results are accurate and comparable to in-person testing.

In many cases, completing testing in your natural environment (such as your home) can provide valuable insight into how you function day-to-day.

We primarily offer virtual evaluations to make care more accessible and convenient. In-person testing may be available in select cases or locations. Please contact us to learn more about current availability and what may be the best fit for your needs.

An evaluation is a structured process that helps identify challenges related to attention, memory, memory, or emotional functioning.   It helps determine whether a cognitive condition is present and what may be contributing to those changes, and helps clarify concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or personality patterns, and provides clear recommendations for next steps.

We offer virtual evaluations in the following states:

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming

You may benefit from an evaluation if you or your child are experiencing:

  • Difficulty with focus, learning, or memory
  • Emotional or behavioral concerns
  • Unclear or changing diagnoses
  • Challenges at school, work, or home

Most evaluations take between 2–5 hours total, depending on the type and complexity.

For testing, you will need a computer or tablet with a reliable internet connection.

For certain types of testing—especially those that assess attention and memory—you may be required to use a computer with the Google Chrome browser. In these cases, Chromebooks are not supported.

We will provide clear instructions ahead of your appointment based on the type of testing you are completing.

For the initial appointment, a phone or tablet is sufficient if it is scheduled separately from testing.

We recommend keeping the explanation simple, positive, and reassuring.

You might say something like:
“You’re going to meet with someone who helps kids understand how they learn and think, and what helps them do their best.

They’ll ask you questions and have you do some activities—kind of like puzzles or games.”

Helpful tips:

  • Emphasize that there are no right or wrong answers
  • Avoid using words like “test” if your child finds that stressful
  • Let them know it’s not something they can fail
  • Reassure them that this is to help them, not judge them

Our goal is to create a comfortable, supportive experience for your child.

A family member can often join the clinical interview portion, and may be asked to provide helpful background information. During testing, however they are typically asked to step away to ensure accurate results.

You can schedule a consultation or evaluation directly through our website or contact us for guidance on next steps.

You will receive:

  • A detailed written report
  • A clear explanation of your results
  • Personalized recommendations for next steps (e.g., therapy, school or work accommodations, or additional support)

If appropriate, yes.  Some evaluations result in a formal diagnosis, while others provide detailed insights and recommendations without a diagnosis.  Either way, you will receive clear guidance on next steps.
